Overview of the Open Access Landscape Online

Open access in scholarly publishing is a growing and complex movement, with many goals and potential pathways for scholars to consider. Navigating scholarly publishing with open access as a priority increasingly requires an understanding of the overall open access landscape. This workshop provides a general overview of what open access is, what issues in scholarly publishing it can address, and open access publishing options (with a focus on options for journal articles).

Anyone interested in publishing their scholarship is welcome, particularly faculty and graduate students.

Open Access Fundamentals is a three-workshop series offered by the Libraries’ Scholarly Communications & Information Policy department to provide scholars with foundational knowledge about open access and how to engage with it. We will cover copyright, a broad overview of open access options, and self-archiving as a cost-free option. Scholars of all experience levels who are interested in publishing their research openly are welcome!
