Welcome to the Studio: A humanist’s intro to VS Code for programming and GitHub control Online
Many starting digital humanists and qualitative researchers imagine computer programming in terms of the scary blank page of a Terminal window or maybe even the haunting green of binary from the Matrix. Coding doesn’t have to look this way, and Visual Studio Code provides an integrated, flexible, and approachable interface for coding in several programming languages that anyone can use. Participants in this workshop will be introduced to the layout and features of VS Code as well as a basic introduction to pushing, pulling, and synching with GitHub through the interface. No programming skills are required, though participants will benefit from having attended Data Services' "Introduction to Git and GitHub" workshop and from any previous familiarity they have with programming languages.
