Copyright and Publishing Research Online

Copyright knowledge is a useful tool for acting on one’s goals for publishing articles and books. As you prioritize open access for your scholarship, it is important to understand the implications of retaining or giving away your rights in your publication contract. This workshop will cover how copyright works, the importance of your copyright in the context of publishing scholarship, authors’ rights, and some basic contract negotiation tools.

Anyone interested in publishing their scholarship is welcome, particularly faculty and graduate students.

Open Access Fundamentals is a three-workshop series offered by the Libraries’ Scholarly Communications & Information Policy department to provide scholars with foundational knowledge about open access and how to engage with it. We will cover copyright, a broad overview of open access options, and self-archiving as a cost-free option. Scholars of all experience levels who are interested in publishing their research openly are welcome!
