  • Resources that are freely accessible and tools that make locating full-text easier and faster
  • Resources that help you to appraise and compare research articles & evidence syntheses
  • Existing programs designed to make research results available in LMICs and other low resource settings
  • Ways to adjust search strategies for different environments and information needs

This workshop is not focused on locating gray literature or data. These topics may be covered in further workshops.

About the workshops: Rapid access to research results is essential for making informed and timely decisions in public health. However, much of this research is located behind paywalls. These workshops were designed with recent graduates of the NYU School of Global Public Health in mind, with the objective of preparing them for locating research information outside the context of a large academic library. The content may also be relevant to graduates and alumni of other professional programs related to the health sciences and to those currently working in public health. The workshops are open to everyone.

Registrants will receive an email with access information. The workshop will also be recorded.

About the presenter: Hope Lappen is the Life Sciences Librarian at New York University's Bobst Library. In addition to her MLIS, she holds a BS in Neuroscience and an MS in Epidemiology. Prior to working in libraries, Hope held a variety of positions in information and technology startups.

As a part of NYU's commitment to global inclusion, our events and initiatives are open to individuals of all backgrounds and identities.
