Intro to Credo Reference Online

Looking for background information on a topic? Need help coming up with keywords and brainstorming your topic? Start your research with Credo Reference, a one-stop exploratory database where you can search hundreds of full-text articles on every subject. This workshop will explore how to access Credo Reference and use it to enhance the research process, learn new research skills, and explore various encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, and reference handbooks to get reliable and trustworthy background information on your topic.

After this workshop you will be able to:

1. Access Credo Reference on the NYU Libraries website
2. Identify keywords and related terms and use search filters to effectively to narrow topics and identify relevant articles
3. Understand the importance of conducting background research on a topic before starting your research
4. Compare and contrast different reference source types to identify where they are most useful during the research process
5. Use bibliographies to track down other relevant sources for further research
