Effectively Search Google Scholar Online

Google Scholar is a convenient search tool designed to broadly search for scholarly literature from one place. This workshop will introduce you to Google Scholar and how to use its features for effective academic research. The workshop will cover how to access and set up your Google Scholar preferences, how to refine searches and use filters, and how to manage and save search results. We’ll also take a look at Google Scholar profiles which provide insight into researcher impact and influence across subject areas and disciplines.

In this session you will:

  • Learn how to configure your Google Scholar settings for more efficient research
  • Learn search strategies to find peer-reviewed, scholarly articles available through NYU Libraries
  • Identify top researchers and use citation metrics to understand research impact and influence
