Crash Course in Chicago Style In-Person
The Chicago Citation style is used often in humanities related research, but if you have never used it before or are used to another citation style like APA or MLA, it takes some getting used to. In this workshop, we will discuss what makes Chicago style different from other citation styles, how to read the basic elements of a Chicago citation, and how to craft your own Chicago citations. This workshop will involve hands-on opportunities to practice using Chicago Citation Style guided by information professionals.
This workshop is part of a series titled “Let's Get Critical: Core Research Skills in the Humanities” which focuses on relevant research skills and topics for humanities researchers. It is open to all researchers and would be particularly relevant to Graduate students who are working with Chicago Style citations.
In this session we will focus on:
- Understanding the background and use of the Chicago Citation Style
- Learning how to identify the basic elements of citations in Chicago Style and how they can help you to locate sources
- Practicing crafting citations in Chicago Style
